Mahindra Thar 5-door Buy Or Hold: Is The Bigger Off-roader

Mahindra Thar 5 Door: Mahindra is currently recognized as the most significant SUV manufacturer in the country. Therefore, it has introduced new models and updated its SUVs over time. One of them is Mahindra Thar. It is preparing to launch a five-door version of the vehicle in India.

Again, the Indian roads spotted testing a 5-door version of the Mahindra Thar. The upcoming model will be equipped with many additional features and safety systems, already among the best available in any car today. It will also receive several other significant upgrades – more details below.

Design

The next-gen Mahindra Thar 5 door will look significantly different from its predecessor (old-gen Thar). Per spy images, the five-door Mahindra Thar will feature round LED headlights with a new grille design, fog lamps with LED DRLs, and revised bumpers. On the side profile, we can see that it gets new diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Features & Cabin

The cabin is where we are going to see the most number of changes. Inside, you will get both 7-seater and 5-seater options with premium leather upholstery. Additionally, it will get a Digital Instrument Cluster, a 10.25-inch Touchscreen Infotainment System with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto Connectivity (wireless), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Six Airbags, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System TPMS Hill Start Assist (HSA), Hill Descent Control (HDC) Traction Control (TC), etc. The list goes on… It even gets a large panoramic sunroof, which floods the cabin with light on sunny days.

Engine Specifications

Underneath the bonnet, the new-gen Thar is expected to get the same engine options as the current model. However, due to its increase in size and weight over the current generation, it may receive a slight power bump for both petrol and diesel engines. Expect a 2.2-litre diesel unit producing around 140 BHP of power with 320 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox, and a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol unit with similar outputs.

The Thar will have rear-wheel drive (RWD) and four-wheel-drive (4WD) systems.

Price & Launch Date

Expect prices for the Thar five-door variant to start from INR 15 lakh ex-showroom in India. The launch is expected to happen on August 15, 2024.
